In house Studio
Doug&Partners was an independent Canadian agency that focused on full-service advertising work. As apart of the in-house studio with only three members (including myself) I got to experience a fast paced environment, executing high quality work with limited hours distributed and of course work with a wonderful group of local Ontarian’s. Please take a peak at all the types of work, brands and service industries I got to touch while working with this local Advertising Agency.
Emails
All of our email templates were built within Photoshop, following email best practices while being able to prototype links, videos or gifs that would play when the email is opened. These email projects would come out in sets for special events, new deals or promotions for all Canadians. When building out these emails, we’d always make sure to build Canadian English, Quebec English and Quebec French languages.
NEWSPAPER
The jobs that kept us busy every month, with a new feel every time was always Honda Newspaper ads. Every month we’d get a new promotion, a new feel for the type of year and a vehicle we’d focus on over the rest. Although at the end of the day every vehicle got its own ad, it was fun seeing how the promotions and feel would change throughout the year. While working with newspaper, I got to work with different paper/ink density, making sure shadows aren’t to harsh, treating retouching differently to make sure vehicle details still pop through the dark inks and of course working with limited space with the amount of legal content that had to be mentioned on every single ad.
Lots of fun print projects would always come into our Studio. From the basic Ministry documentation, the colourful brochures we’d make for students to some creative POP that we’d display within or outside of Honda dealerships. With this variety of work, I got to learn to how to create die and bleed lines from scratch for special request prints, work with a variety of printers and see how far printing can actually go. There’s no better feeling then getting something you created into your physical hands.
DIGITAL BANNERS
My first step and immediate interest into the digital studio space. Although banners might’ve seemed like the crummiest job to work on, it was always a fun challenge to get a story board with so much information crammed into it, then having to figure out how it can all fit into a ten second banner that will get the viewers attention while also having them retain it as well. All builds were done within creative cloud applications, as well as Google Web Designer.
OTHER WORKS
With so much amazing work, there are far to many categories to go into. Although the above five sections were ones I work on consistently every week, I was also given other work that was outside the usual stream of requests. From video work, quick TV spots, OOH, laying out exhibit panels, TV screen savers and of course creating landing pages.
